Yin is a passive, slow yoga targeting connective tissue, ligaments, fascia and joints. Yin calms and balances the mind and body. All the poses are floor based -most seated or supine (no Downward Dogs! ) We move into the poses slowly and perhaps using props as support then hold the poses for anything from 3 to 5 minutes. Time whist in the pose is used for mindful breathing or allows time for inspirational readings by the teacher. Time also to allow the deeper connective tissues (Yin tissues) to lengthen and release deep tension. This practice is a bit like having a deep tissue massage and meditating at the same time. The additional beauty of Yin is that it is accessible for any age and any ability. What is not to like. Please join me and try.
